Board member application
Serving on the Musicians Club of Women Board of Directors is a chance to shape the future of a historic, Chicago‑based musical community while building meaningful relationships with fellow music‑lovers and leaders. Through this application, we’re looking for people who are excited to champion women in classical music, share their ideas, and collaborate on concerts, scholarships, and community programs.
Board service with MCW is hands‑on and energizing: you’ll help plan events, support performers, and strengthen the organization behind the scenes—all in a supportive, collegial environment where your voice truly matters. Our board works together via monthly Zoom meetings from September to May, making it easier to stay engaged while balancing work, life, and music.
If you’re looking for a leadership role that is fun, community‑oriented, and artistically inspiring—and where your time and talents can make a real impact on women in classical music—this form is your first step.
Who We Are:
We are an all-volunteer, working, and governing board. This means the board is responsible not only for advising on the strategic mission and vision and upholding the fiduciary duties of MCW, but also for program operations, events, activities, and fundraising.
How We Work:
Board members serve a three year (36 months) term and are required to attend monthly virtual Board meetings (held on the second Friday of each month) and can also serve on any of our 11 committees. Review our general requirements and committee descriptions here.
What We Look For:
A passion for the mission of MCW: To support, promote, and engage women in classical music.
Ability to dedicate an average of 8 hours per month to MCW responsibilities and activities (different roles may vary).
Organized self-starters who are eager to contribute to the work of our Board and able to accomplish projects with minimal supervision.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
